The 2016 Miss La Vergne pageant will be held on Saturday, August 27 at La Vergne High School Auditorium. This year participants will be judged in both casual and formal wear. All pageants begin at 2 p.m., starting with the Little Miss contestants and ending with the Miss La Vergne contestants. All age groups will be crowned at the conclusion of the pageant so group photos can be taken at that time.
The cost is $25 per child to enter if you register by Friday, August 19, 2016, at 4:30 p.m. We will be taking late applications until Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 4:30 p.m. The fee will be $35 for any applications received after August 19. Participants must check-in onsite between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each contestant will receive a t-shirt that can be worn to several future City events. There will also be a small dinner for all participants after rehearsal on Friday, August 26.
The annual “People's Choice Award” will again be a part of the pageants. The girl that collects the most money in her individual pageant vote will be crowned “People's Choice Winner” and take home the 50:50 prize - or half the money donated in voting.
This year, girls are responsible for bringing their own personally decorated voting box with their photo. The box can be no larger than a shoe box (7 inches by 4.5 inches by 12 inches).
Winners will be responsible for confirming or securing their own convertible for the Old Timers Festival parade. The city will loan magnets with the titles of the winners for the cars. Runners-up who wish to participate in the parade may team up together to design a float for the parade. The city will loan a banner with the pageant name for the float. Be prepared to choose up to 3 “queen mothers” during the rehearsal to coordinate the activity.
In addition, we are excited to say that the winner of the 1983 Miss America pageant, Debra Maffett, will serve as our pageant mentor.
Understand first and foremost that the goal of the pageants is for children and parents to have fun. When preparing and while participating, enjoy the time you spend with your children.
To become a pageant contestant, please print and read the rules. You must sign the last page and return it with your application.
