The La Vergne Public Library has more than 70,000 items available for check out — books, audio books, DVDs, and music CDs. Books include fiction, non-fiction and juvenile reading materials. Newspaper subscriptions include two local papers, the New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. More than 70 weekly and monthly magazines are also available for patrons.

The library has a broad range of specialized materials available in multiple formats, including: help for homeschooling, Spanish language for adults and children, exam proctoring, 23 computer stations, and a full teacher center. In addition, the following is also offered to the public: a fax machine for sending and receiving, laminating machines, die cutting machines, 23 computers for internet and word processing, and computer software.

The library offers interactive story times for babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children (the schedules can be picked up in the library or viewed on-line) which include stories, music and other activities.

Other La Vergne Public Library highlights include the card catalog, the Heritage Quest database, and the Google Virtual Tour, all available online.

Every year the library hosts a Summer Reading and Activities Program which allows school-aged children, teens, and adults to enjoy reading and library activities during the summer months. Other special programs – including the Magic of Santa at Christmas and Gross Grub at Halloween – take place throughout the year.
