September 12-13, 2014
Veterans Memorial Park
Old Timers Festival for 2014 has been scheduled for September 12-13. We will have the traditional parade on Saturday morning, following a full day of fun and entertainment. Stay tuned for some of the great changes we have this year!
FROM THE MAYOR
Dear Residents and Visitors,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the 2013 Old Timers Festival for the City of LaVergne! As you go through these pages, you’ll see we are having carnival rides this year, as well as juried crafts, a food court so guests can find a seat somewhere to relax, free concerts, and an exciting parade featuring what we hope will be more floats and marching bands.
Like last year and due to overwhelming demand, it is a pleasure to bring back the LaVergne Baby Show on Sunday, September 15. In addition, we will have the Miss LaVergne pageants the weekend before so our royalty can participate in th parade on Saturday morning.
I want to thank all of our sponsors for helping to make this event possible. Your support for the Old Timers Festival and throughout the year mean so much to us.
So please, come and enjoy our festival! We would love to see you at Veterans Memorial Park in September!
Mayor Senna Mosley
DONT STOP BELIEVING!
The theme for the 2013 event is “Dont Stop Believing!” to honor the people who have overcome great personal obstacles with fortitude and a great attitude..
The invitation to serve as grand marshal of the Old Timers Day parade is being extended to a member of the community who served countless hours as a volunteer and as a city employee before facing a medical crisis. He has fought the good fight and is still living life with joy and determination. The parade is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14.
PARADE ROUTE CLOSINGS AND INFORMATION
Beginning at 9:15am, WEST Murfreesboro Rd. (going toward Nashville) will be closed for the parade. West bound traffic between Veterans Memorial Pkwy (by the post office) and 73rd Ave (by the library) will be diverted to the East bound side (one lane each direction). Residents of Rutherford Pointe and Pattys Cove area will be allowed to leave on Floyd Mayfield (only toward Sand Hill Rd.) until the parade is close to Floyd Mayfield and it is no longer safe for traffic. At that time, residents will not be able to leave until the parade is complete. Additionally, traffic will be heavily impacted at the following intersections along Mboro Rd.: Madison Square/George Chaney, Stones River Rd., Floyd Mayfield.
