Special Investigations

The purpose of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is to take a proactive approach to combating crime and to assist patrol officers in addressing their Community Policing projects. The unit’s daily responsibilities include proactive street level enforcement and crime suppression in those areas where calls for service are higher. 

Special Investigations detectives investigate violations of laws pertaining to narcotics, gang and vice-related laws and ordinances, prostitution, and asset forfeiture. The Special Investigations Unit employs various investigative and high profile tactics to address crime trends within the City of La Vergne.

Special Investigations Division

The Special Investigations Unit is made up of 14 sworn officers, two non-sworn officers and two K-9 officers. The unit is led by the Special Investigations Bureau Commander Lieutenant who oversees Vice/Narcotics investigations, Criminal and Internal Affairs investigations, the Crime Suppression unit as well as an administrative assistant and Crime Scene/Evidence & Property supervisor and technician.
