Attention Residents of Lake Forest
La Vergne and Smyrna Police Dept. SWAT Teams will be conducting a joint training exercise on Friday October 13th. The training will start at approximately 2pm and finish no later than 7pm. You are receiving this notice because you may live in the general area where the training will be taking place.
Residents may observe SWAT Team members throughout the area dressed in paramilitary uniforms and carrying weapons. These officers will be clearly marked with Police/SWAT patches and insignias. These Officers may be on foot or in unmarked Police vehicles.
There is also the possibility you may hear loud explosion sounds in the area from distraction devices. There will also be large presence of Police Officers and vehicles near the intersection of Stones River Road and Lake Forest Drive.
The purpose of this training will be to test the readiness of our departments' ability to deal with difficult situations that we face from time to time. The training will appear very real and the Officers involved will be taking the training very seriously.
