[ARCHIVED] "Keep La Vergne Beautiful" Poster Contest

The La Vergne Stormwater Department is looking for help from local kids ahead of this year's annual stream clean-up.

They're asking 4th and 5th graders to help design a poster around the theme "Keep La Vergne Beautiful" and should reflect the need to keep our streams, creeks, channels, and lakes clean. 

All submissions must be turned into a school teacher or the La Vergne Public Library at 5063 Murfreesboro Road by March 22nd. Submissions will be judged by Stormwater Department Staff.

Winners will be announced on Monday, April 2nd. The top three posters will be displayed in the La Vergne Library until May 5th. The winning poster will be used for advertisement of the La Vergne annual stream clean-up event on May 5th.


Prizes

- 1st Place: Android Tablet with Keyboard

- 2nd and 3rd Place: Jansport Backpack


Poster Contest Rules 

1. All entries must be original artwork created by a student who is currently in the 4th or 5th grade at Roy Waldron Elementary, La Vergne Lake Elementary, Rock Springs Elementary, or a home-schooled 4th or 5th grade resident of La Vergne. 

2.  The student’s first name, last initial, and school name must be printed on the back of the poster.  If the student is home-schooled, please include parent’s name and either a phone number or email address where you can be reached if chosen winner. 

3. Entry Media

a. Entries may be done in marker, crayon, colored pencil, ink, and or paint. 

b. Do not glue anything on your poster.

c. No three-dimensional items on the poster.

d. Computer or photo-generated art is not acceptable.

e. Please do not duplicate any known cartoon characters or other images that may be copyrighted (i.e. Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, SpongeBob, etc.)

4. Entries must be 11”x17”.
