Biography
Bruce Richardson was unanimously appointed City Administrator by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on March 5, 2013. He previously served as City Recorder and in January 2011, was named and given the additional responsibilities of Assistant City Administrator. On April 3, 2012 he was named Interim City Administrator.

Richardson has been working for the City since June, 1993. He was originally hired as the Assistant to the City Administrator, but transferred to the Finance Department in September, 1993 to work as the Accounts Payable Clerk. While working in the Finance Department, he attended various city meetings and maintained city records. After working in the Finance Department for almost a year, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen appointed him as the new City Recorder in August, 1994.

The City Recorder is the official record keeper for the City. He, or his designee, attends all Mayor and Aldermen, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Beer Board meetings, and is responsible for documenting the meetings through minutes.

Richardson is a member of the International City Management Association (ICMA), Tennessee City Management Association (TCMA), International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), and the Tennessee Association of Municipal Clerks and Recorders (TAMCAR).  

He has obtained the Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO) designation from the State of Tennessee and is also a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) through the IIMC as well as a Certified Municipal Clerk and Recorder in the State of Tennessee.

Originally from Plymouth, Vermont - the birthplace of President Calvin Coolidge - Richardson moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 1984 and attended Middle Tennessee Christian School. He is a graduate of Harding University where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.
